Horitzontal fridge plugged in to soon?
What happens if you plug in a frig that had been laid down on it back side for only a minute at most? We were loading this frig... and the guy that was up in the truck slipped and the frig tipped over on top of him and they quickly picked it up of course... it stayed upright on the truck until the next morning and was then off loaded... being tipped back a bit to get it on the dolly and then tipped some more to bring it down the loading ramp... I plugged it in and it now doesn't work... I hear the motor running but it's not getting cool. Is the frig now toasted?

Unlikely refrigerator is damaged. The problem with laying a refrigerator on it back or side is that the oil in the compressor can run into the lines. If the lines are shaped such that there is a low spot or droop it sometimes can't drain out when the fridge is set upright. It takes a little time for the oil to get into the lines. Doesn't happen if just a few minutes. Just tilting fridge wouldn't be a problem.

If compressor runs for more than a few minutes it should be all right. It can take as long as 24 hours for a refrigerator to get truly cold. You probably can't feel any temperature difference for a hour or so.

Thanks for reply to my question... I re-unplugged the frig yesterday morning and let it sit all night and plugged in back in this morning. I can hear the fan running that's on the inside of the freezer half of this side by side... outside and on the bottom in the back I can see the fan that is there engage and run for maybe 5 SECONDS and then I hear a click and it shuts off. When I picked up the FREE frig it was working as in it frig felt cold and the freezer was very cold, so I know it was working as of Thursday. OH, and by the way this is a GE 21.8cu model #TFX22ZLC.
