    Self done cartilage piercing.
I just let my friend pierce my cartilage the other day. He cleaned the earring & stuck it right through. It stung for the first hour & then it was like nothing was there. I clean it twice a day & turn it in the shower. I even sleep on it and there's no pain. But, last night I took the earring out. I cleaned my ear & the earring & ever since I put it back in it hurts A lot. When I clean it, or just touch it, it burns! Is this normal?

You shouldn't sleep on it because that causes irritation to the peircing, whether you feel it or not. Irritation makes it more prone to infection and hypertrophic scaring (bump behind the peircing.) Also, you shouldn't take your peircing out for a few weeks after it's been peirced. It sounds to me like an infection is starting but it could get a lot worse. The best thing to do is clean your peircing with Sea Salt. Just mix Sea Salt into a warm cup of water and clean your peircing with that 2 times a day or so.

    Hope this helps :)
