Me and my girlfriend are splitting up and both of our names are on the title. She said she's going to quit her job but not leave. So how do I go about getting her off the title. Sell it and split the profits? (I offered her my 2005 Montana SV6 as compensation, but she's trying to be difficult.) I don't want to pay lot rent just for her to sit around on here all day for free. How do I go about gaining full ownership?

I don't know how you could do that unless she were to agree to the sale.

Hopefully you understand now that there are many disadvantages in buying property in common with another person without being married ot that person. The law just isn't prepared for dealing with the many complications inherent in such a relationship.

If it were real property, you could sue her for partition (sale of the property and a split of the proceeds). I don't know if that is an option with respect to personal property such as a mobile home. It would depend on the specific law in your state.

Either (a) you both agree agree to sell it and split the proceeds, or (b) one of you buys the other one out. If she is unwilling to do (a) and doesn't like your offer for (b) then you have to raise your offer, or settle in for a protracted dispute.
