    Spruce trees
Hi I have three 60 ft spruce trees in excellent health about 15 ft from my house, I am wondering if the should be topped remove about 20 ft, I am concerned that they may fall on the house someday, should I be concerned? Thank you.

They have shallow roots so, yes, there is always a concern when it comes to conifers (which is what the spruce is). The person to decide whether topping them will injure/kill the tree is an arborist.

If the trees are beginning to break loose from the soil you will see a definite line around the tree where it is beginning to lift. Again, an arborist can show you what to look for.

Topping a tree that much will ruin the tree geometry and it will look terrible. Not sure what is best option but get an arborist involved for a professional opinion.
