2008 troy bilt bronco hard to shift, and won't stop when braked
This is the second time this month that I've asked about this problem. First, I received an answer to replace the VSP;
I took the pulley off and checked it, it looked fine slid up and down easily and showed no wear.I chatted with the expert and told him of the event and said that I was going to try a new upper belt also; and he agreed. At that point I accepted his answer. I then ordered the other belt and the VSP as well. I visually inspected the new pully and compared it with the older one and they were identical.After replacing the belts and new pully;I'm right back where I started. except my wallet wallet is about $140.00 lighter.[upper and lower drive belt,Variable Speed Pully,shipping charges, and $17.00 I had to pay to 'Just Answer' for what I thought was the answer]

No,I idon't consider taking it to the shop. Turn-around-time is about 4-5 weeks, and they'll charge $35 to $40 just to look at it. If Troy Bilt or MTD would provide their costomers with a proper tech. manual, any mechanic could find the problem. I have been a mechanic since 1956, and like any other mech, working on something different, it helps to have diagrams and trouble shooting assistance, Thanks for your response.
