    My Mothers Home
My Mother was sole owner to her home and didn't owe anything. Then her grandaughter wanted to get a loan and so she was added to the deed and then a one hundred thousand dollar loan was taken out. The granddaughter was in charge of the money and suppose to make all the mortgage payments.

If the granddaughter alone took out the loan, she is responsible for paying, but the bank can foreclose on the home regardless of your mother being on the deed with her. If both are on the mortgage, both are equally liable for the mortgage, and the bank can go after either one or both. Time for all the rest of the family to slap some sense into the granddaughter.

By adding her to the deed your mother essentially made a gift of half the house to the granddaughter. There may also be tax consequences to this.

But please ask your question so we know what you need help with.

And if the girl does not pay the loan back, mother can lose the house or mother will have to pay the loan.
