Noise and the smell of burning wire from ceiling fan.
Smell of burning wire, when I turned on/off switch off and then on it caused sparks and blew out. Turned switch to off. Is this dangerous to leave or should I call electrician asap. Is this something we can check out ourselves and replace ceiling fan?

I don't know what the experts here will tell you, but my advice is to keep it turned off and call an electrician ASAP. Why is this my advice? Because I had a friend who's mother and father burned to death in a house fire that was eventually determined to have been started by the ceiling fan.

    J9 is absolutely correct.

You have sparks spraying and smell wires burning, and you needed advice of what to do?

Been almost a day, what did the electrician find?
