Can anyone please tell me how to rotate the display of text and picture from vertical to horizontal

I usually do it from within my graphics cards options. Of course you have to rotate your monitor as well and I find its safest to do it with the monitor off and then turn it back on so the plugs don't wiggle with the monitor running. NVidias control panel has a rotate right or left and after you go from wide view to long view and back again your desktop icons might get repositioned. Also just after the rotate is completeted there is an accept or no window you have to deal with and while the view is sideways it's a little tricky to get your mouse to the OK button.
