I'm trying to install my Hampton Bay ceiling fan
The fan has a blue, white and black wires. My home has black, blue, green and red wires. I have connected the green to green and the white to white, but when I attach the black to black and the red to blue, only the lights work. And when I attach the black to red and the blue to black only the fan works. I tried attaching the blue and black wire from the fan to the black wire in my home and just capping of the red wire but then nothing works. The light that I had there previously worked just fine, so I'm sure its not an issue with my homes wiring. Any suggestions?

Do you have a wall switch for the light and one for the fan?

If so, then we need to know what wires are connected to the switches and their positions.

For example, Red and Black may be connected to the top of the switches, while blue is connected to the bottom and white is capped off.

Also, Where does the power supply originate from. Is it in the overhead or at the switches?

    Where are you located?

That doesn't sound like US wiring.
You said you connected white to white but you don't list white among the house wire colors.
