    Low blood pressure
    24 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone, today at the doctors I was told I have low blood pressure. I have always had quite low blood pressure and was anemic for a few years in my teens. By the looks of things my blood has dropped from normal to low in the space of about 3 weeks, I have been fainting a lot more so that would explain it. My doctor said he would prefare low blood pressure to having high blood pressure. I have been taking pre-natal multi vitamins since the start of my pregnancy which include Iron. Is there anything else I should be doing or taking to help with the fainting and dizziness? Its beginning to effect my daily routine, I can't even stand in a small que in the shops without passing out, its very embarrassing :o

Are you restricting salt, or eating low sodium food? Normally, this is fine, but if you have very low blood pressure, some extra salt can help to bring it back to normal, particularly if you are pregnant.

If the salt has no effect, then learn to cope with the low blood pressure. Stand up slowly, hold onto things if you are standing for long, move around to keep your blood moving.

Thanks for your reply Eileen, I will try eating more salty foods and see how that works. :)
