    To close for comfort.
We live in the city of cleveland tn. The neightborhood the lots are 50 by 149 each. 50 front and back. Neightbor has put a chickens wire fence up the driveway to our garage I mean on the garage. Can someone help us find out if we have and right to have the fence moved over for clearance. They say the property line go right up to the garage,do I have a foot or two to play with,so I could add siding to the garage.alot of other s--- to but. Thank lynn we are getting it surved but the fence right on the garge.

How close a fence may be to a side property line would normally be covered in your city's zoning code. Title 14 (zoning) for Cleveland is online, but a footnote indicates that "The Cleveland Zoning Ordinance, and any amendments, is included in
this municipal code as Appendix C." Appendix C not online.

So I suggest that that you contact the Code Enforcement office (423-476-1121) and find out whether this fence is legal.

I doubt in Cleveland ( wonderful city) will even allow a "chicken wire fence" call and report it to the city code enforcement.

Also is there a survey and stakes of your properly line

Thank you all i have gotten that far. We are making an appointment today for survey. We where informed that if the proberty line is right against the garage, then we own it and can take it down. Also the chicken problem if they can get out of the fence the fence has to be a high wooden fence so they can't get out. I think the survey will help a lot because years ago grandmother crowe showed us where the property line was but the iron stack was removed where the girl nextdoor grandmother passed. So until now that's the thing to do. Grandmother purchased it in 1974 and she knew everything about her property.she told us that our property when running down to the houses the property line runs almost against their house.my husband told me last night that if it does, there will be a fence 6 inches off the property line. We tried to speak with them last night and travis came over and said we don't have no money,to help with the survey.thats fine we work our butts off the have what we have and i don't plan to have trashy neighbors to mess it up. And over the years i found out that you can't fix stupid.thanks for helping if you need information on cars, trucks ect i'm greater at that.u have all then great lynn

Please refrain from using all caps. My head hurts from reading that.

Even if the survey shows that the fence is on their side of the line, they could well be in violation of a side-yard setback. That's why I suggested you check with code enforcement. Your garage might be in violation as well, but you need to know.
