    Lump on baby's head
My 5 month old baby has (over the last week or so) developed a solid lump on the top of his head. It is directly behind his soft spot and couldn't be more central. A doctor friend advised when the lump was a lot smaller that it was either the skull coming together and doing it's thing or a cyst. Either way it's nothing to worry about.
Problem is I am worried as it's growing quickly and protruding straight out of the top of his head. A bit disconcerting really. Do cysts just stop growing and go away of there own accord or does it require removal? Oh yes and it doesn't hurt if I press it firmly.

    Concerned parent.

    David,

Whenever there is something of concern with your baby, such as this, it is important that you make an appointment with your pediatrician as soon as possible.

Cysts sometimes stop growing on their own, but with a child this young it is imperative that you have it checked out by a medical professional.

We can guess all we want here, but without a physical examination all info or advice you get here is not adequate at best.

Please contact your physician in the morning.
