I'm in North Carolina which is an at will state. But one thing that I would like to know I was given the termnation paper signed and dated with worl logo and mangers singature but the statement was a complete false statement. I called the owner and ask for a meeting she meet with me and said that she wanted the paper back and would reverse the termnation statement that I received 4 days before meeting with her. When I explain to her that that was a lie and not true at all she sort of didn't want to hear it and I felt completely ignored. The stament really being a lie is that when she promoted me to House Manger she told me I could hire and fire and I was the overseer of the property. For months I requested a job description in writing or typed just so I could know my duties. At the meeting we had I ask her." Did you not tell me I could hire and fire," and she very rudely interrupted me... RUDE... STATING."I dont remember what I told you." But the statement on my termnation paper says. I hired and fired without theGM consent. But I hired people since August of 2006 for MY DEPARTMENT after being prompted and she verbally gave me that authority. But I have never fired anyone and when I pointed that out that's when she ask me for the paper back and I said NO because the ESC already had a copy and I went for my unemployment claims appointment. What is this?

It is her trying to get any written evidence of a their illegal firing.

While in at will states they can fire you for any or no reason, they still can not fire you for false or lies. Had they just fired you, that was one thing, but since they gave you a reason, if that reason is false, you hve possible suit against them.

Hi Frank and everyone else. Well guess what Frank I can't receive unemployment now and it still is stating the same lie on that paper. I searching for a lawyer ASAP. One hasn't returned my call so I'm researching others now. I can'r believe they even had the nerve to file that which made me disqualified.
