He has a blocked nose and doesn't close his mouth
I have a 5 year old lhasa apso and it appears he has a blocked nose, I'm slightly worried as his mouth is constantly open and a white gunge appears around his nose and on his tongue. He just doesn't seem himself. He seems to be eating and drinking OK. Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Unfortunately this characteristic was bred into this particular breed because it was a characteristic they thought was needed. Apsos have a shortened compressed nasal passage by design, which means they have to breath through their mouth. If your dog is eating and drinking on a regular basis, I would not be concerned and just put what you think is a problem down an in bred design. Or, take him to the vet.

I realize this a 10 day old post, but if you are still checking back Fozzy, allow me to ask, what do you mean by "white gunge?" A discharge? Caked food? Crusty or moist?
