    I was
I was arrested on Grand Theft, Felony. I'm 18 years old and this is my first offence. I'm a good kid. I've just graduated high school, an active member in church, and do a lot of community service/ volunteer work. My plan was to go into the Navy after high school but I've talked to a recruiter and they said that even if it was dropped to a misdemeanor and or adjudication withheld I would automatically be disqualified. Is there anything that I can do?

I would believe the recruiter BUT I'd see what a good criminal Attorney can do for you.

It's a side issue but how did an active church member who does a lot of volunteer work and is a "good" kid get arrested for Grand Theft - felony?

Particularly on a felony level. Have to wonder just what "bad kids" do.

    (Out of greenies).

Just about everyone has done bad stuff in his or her life. The phrase is relative.

Danielle92, you said you were arrested. But you haven't been convicted. So, by all means, get a lawyer and try to fight it. By your also saying "this is my first offence", are we to assume you are guilty?

Got to disagree with you on this one - grand theft, larceny level? That's not jaywalking. My concern is the number of people who post, "My son is a good kid and he ...," "I'm a good kid and I ..."

Not saying anyone is a bad person and not saying people don't make mistakes, but a felony - ?
