Can I void a transfer of a land deed with a forged signature?
I drove by a 2-acre lot that we own and saw a man moving dirt with a backhoe. I asked him what he was doing on our property thinking he had the wrong place. He replied that he owned the property, but didn't have any papers with him. I called the Sheriff and he told the man to leave with the backhoe until it was verified. The Sheriff told me to check at the County Building. I saw my signature forged by my husband which was obvious because our signatures are completely different. The Notary Public at the bottom of the page was a kind family friend of my parents from our church. I was shocked that this old friend would allow this to be done. Since it was illegal, can I void this transfer of property?

Certainly. Well, maybe. The man with the back-hoe could possibly claim that he was a bona fide purchaser for value, ignorant of any wrongdoing on their part. You better get an attorney.

Your husband and the notary could be prosecuted as well. Fraud of this sort is a crime.
