I bought a admiral dryer fro my apartment from home depot last year and now it won't start. I checked circuit breaker and it won't work. Now, my drain hose from my ge washing machine I bought from the same home depot 2 years ago is overflowing onto mt carpet. What is going on? Did they swindle me?

Hi candece, when you say "checked circuit breaker" did you turn it offf and back on? They can look all right and still be off. If breakers OK then I would check the door switch next.

The washer drain issue sounds like your drain line is clogged, you'll need to snake the line. Is the washer drain the only drain that has a problem? Good luck

If the breaker is really on (some of them look on even when tripped) then I would next suspect a totally clogged area under the lint trap and the safety switch isn't letting it start. Remove your lint trap and look for lint that escaped around and under it. I am thinking this because you also have a clogged washer drain. If you wash a lot of sweats, flannel, terry, and other linty cotton, you can have tons of it.

You used the dryer for one year and the washer for two years, and you think you may have been swindled? I am the last one to stick up for the big box stores, but I think you jumped to this conclusion too quickly.

Both the dryer and washer rely on electrical, plumbing, and waste/venting mechanical systems that the appliance dealer or manufacturer have no control over regarding the integrity or soundness of the installation, or the lack of maintenance by the owner.

The dryer issue can be a loose wire connection anywhere in the circuit, a defective circuit breaker, or the popular cause is a problem with the plug/receptacle.

I like Joy's explanation of possible lint causing the drain to plug. Or there can be some other obstruction in the plumbing waste line and not caused directly by the washer.

The dryer issue may need either an electrician to check and repair the circuit wiring, or there may be an issue with the actual appliance and need a repair tech.

The washer sounds like a plumber is needed.
