Pinion cost if not under warranty?
So how much does it cost for a replacement on the pinion for the Ford Ranger? I took my truck 2002 Ford Ranger in for the same noise... I hope it won't cost much, just had some seals replaced around the trans. and axle, $600.00 later...

I don't know exactly what that will cost. My guesstimate would be $350. After you get it fixed, however, you can prevent power steering problems on Fords by using full synthetic ATF in the P/S system. I use either Mobil 1 Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF or Amsoil Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF. Do partial changes every 40,000 miles, using a small pump or squeeze bulb. Be sure to replace the P/S Filter.

    Do you mean axle pinion?
Two or four wheel drive? What size ring gear, etc?
