What's the cost to sign over parental rights?
My daughters father can't afford to take care of her and untimately has told me he doesn't really want to be apart of her life. We argue constantly and he has told me he wants to sign over and the way he treats her now I think it would be in my daughters best interest to not have him around. I'm so lost on how to get him to start this and how much its going to cost him. Can anyone please please help me? I'm in fla

He can't sign over his rights unless someone else is willing to adopt the child.

The Court does not care what he can afford or not afford. It's his child and his responsibility.

What does the support order say?

It will cost $0 since it won't happen. I don't know where people get the idea that they can just sign over their rights to a child. It's not true!

If you had browsed around first you would have found that out.

If he doesn't want to be a part of his child's life then tell him to leave you alone.

@scott some places say u can sign over if u have someone who wants to adopt and others say that u have to petition the court. Excuse me for not knowing everything.

@j I'm scared of him, that's y he's not already on child support

That's not quite accurate. Yes a court will issue a TPR to clear the way for an adoption. But you said nothing about an adoption. Only a court can terminate parental rights and courts are VERY reluctant to do so.

If you are scared of him you got to court to get support AND a restraining order. Apparently you weren't scared of him enough to have sex.

To clear this up, no he can not just sign over his rights so he does not have to pay child support.

But right now, he does not have to pay or even owe anything since there is no court order.

And at this point you don't have to do anything, he can go away and never call and never see the child again, and you can go raise the child. ** unless at some point in the future he wants to come back into child life.

So tell him just to go away and raise your child, costs nothing and you have what you want.

Why? Why isn't he supporting his child?
