I have tried to remove our push pull stopper in our tub, and the knob unscrews, the inside there is no place to use a screwdriver to loosen it up. Other than taking the whole thing apart, what else can be done?

Thanks guys, sorry I couldn't help with a picture. A plummer friend of mine came over and got it out. It did unscrew from the drain, and then he pulled up a wad of hair!
