I was previously on a dimmer swith that controlled the fan and light to the fan with a toggle switch. I want to replace with a regular light swith as the new low energy lamps do not work properly with dimmers. I bought a levetron 2 swith control on a single gang plate. I was able to wire the switch to operate the ceiling fan and light seperatly but only when the fan swith is in the on position. How do I wire it to operate the light and fan seperatly without power being on the fan. FYI the wires coming to the J-box are one set of wires comprising of a red, dark gray, white and ground. The other is black, white and ground. The whites and grounds are wire nuted together.

Tell us specifically where each wire is on which switch. The short answer is that you need a hot wire (probably the black one) on each switch. If you can describe how it is wired now, we can probably tell you which wires to move.
