STANLEY 810 Remote programming query (HELP PLEASE!)
Recently I inadvertently dropped my only remote for the garage door into a cup of water I had in my vehicle (just picked-up a rescue dog and had hands full/wasn't paying proper attention). Tried to dry it out straightawy, et al, and it's 'done'. Procured one of 'those' "Universal" (does state it's compatible) Champberlain remotes yet it WON'T 'connect' (have now spent three hours plus over two 'days'). Unfortunately when the remote 'dunked' a few of the 'brackets' covering the prongs for the programming channels fell out so the 'compatible' code does not even exist between the garage unit itself and the remote. I have fiddled so much with all three pieces (garage unit, old wet remote and replacement) that there's no OLD code now anyway.

How DOES one replace a remote and set the codes please (and NO there is NOT a "learn" button in these older models)

    Thank you kindly!! (Kathryn)

Does the garage opener have DIP switches to set the code?
Does the new remote have DIP switches to set the code?

I am not sure if my reply was rec'd by the gent whom wrote ---- you asked if the opener has the dip-switches (and yes it does - 10)... the remote has what I will call PEGS and these cap/covers with metal inside 'connecting or bridging' them (and, again, ten of those).

    Thank you once again

    Comment on hkstroud's post
Sir ---- It' me (vipdt)... I wrote back but not sure I facilitated the transmission properly ---- the dip switches ARE on the opener and NOT in the remote (it is a diffierent set-up with what I will state are 'pegs/cap brdiges' to bind the circut). FOR SUREthe opener is post 1982 build (per the serial number). If it helps whatsoever I can send images along

    Thank you kindly

A picture might help but I would assume the "pegs/cap bridges" and DIP switches are really the same thing. Suggest that you set the opener DIP switches and the "pegs/cap bridges" to the same combination.
