My EtG test came back positive and I DID NOT drink
I took a ETG test Monday(5-23), and today I went in to talk to my couselor and she told me it came back Positive.(that I had used) I absolutley swear I have been sober for over 90 days.. I don't know how this could be possible. I told her to send it back to the lab-there HAD to be a mistake. My parents want to vouch for me because I literally sat at home all weekend.. not DRINKING a thing. How could a ETG test come saying that I used.. when I didn't? My couselor told me my "numbers were high" and I absolutley did not use. Please help me with this. I am freaking out. Again... I had NO alcohol in system so I don't know how it could have came back positive! Please help me if you can.

Here are some facts you and your counselor should both read. Ethylglucuronide (EtG) and Ethylsulfate (EtS) - EtG and EtS Testing

    What was the reading?

There are literally thousands of reasons an EtG test can provide a false positive. It happens very often.

If you have been sober for 90 days there are several blood tests that would challenge the EtG. As you will see by the link provided by Ballengerb1, above, this test should never be used independently to establish alcohol consumption.

    Comment on DrBill100's post
I don't know what the reading was my couselor wouldn't tell me. She basically said" You had to of used" She told me all my past UA's have been all 0's and this one was high . A girl in my class drank and took a UA(5-23) and maybe they confused me with her? I absolutley did NOT drink. So I don't know how the "numbers" could have been high. IF it comes back positive again... I think I am going to have a DNA sample done.
