My son is 25 and now a complete alcoholic, he drinks several bottles of hard spirit every day, steals to fund his habit, and I feel he's killing himself fast, most of family have had enough so don't have any dealings with him except me and his dad, but they have had him do some awful things so fear for it all, he's been part of a addaction program which is about finished, but they only talked to him and he has not been offered yet any detox etc, which he so needs.. any ideas anyone? X

What does your son think? What is he saying? Is he willing to go into detox?

Does he live with you?

He doesn't live with me hun no, he says at times he wants to get sorted, and will di it himself, but there's no way he can, he has a little boy too that he hasn't seen since last year who lives with his ex, but due to his bahaviour he has to apply to courts now to see him, which he hasn't bothered.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. Until your son is willing to get help, nothing good will happen in his life. I wish I had a better outlook for you.

Don't be pushy and annoying (as he would consider it). Just tell him you love him and want him to have a good life and will be there when he is ready.

Do you get to see your grandchild?

Since their father's death 20yrs ago at 48 my 2 sons have caused a lot of problems. Finally I let go of my 44yrs. Old son last year. Now he is on his own. My 38 has been in trouble constantly. My companion has been there for him. Last night was the last draw; he drank all day long and he begged for money. He harassed us for at least 2 hrs. I just came back from the Hospital and he did not care. After insulting me we told him that police was on the way he left and went to his lady. The experience of that was awful; I made up my mind to not ever let him back in my life. I am a happy person my health has been a problem for a few years and just knowing that my sons don't really care made me a complete different person. I am an artist and I like to write children's stories; now that he is gone I can concentrate on me. My motto is Let go and let God. I've done it all. Cried , suffered, depression begged to be good; nothing changed except me with tough love. There is help outthere; they need to want it. Please forgive my writing. Life is so short and precious. Enjoy life.
