    Can I sue a bank?
    I was wondering if the bank charged me a double debit from my account and I only made one but they told me it was right then can I sue? Als if the bank states on the phone knowing the phone call is recording that they were sending me my money and stating other problems and then other cusomer service people all say different things can you sue them for miss leading and making up their own rules.

    If this is a US bank I would file a complaint against the bank with the Office of the Comptroller of the currency (OCC), which is the agency that regulates US banks. Their website is: OCC.gov Home Page

    They will try to resolve your problem for you.

    Chase Bank has always been very upfront and forthright in their dealings with me.

    Have you sat down with a Chase banker and attempted to resolve any of this?

    Yes I have but everyone keeps telling me different things to do and I am always told to contact the online bankers by phone but everyone of them I talk to say things that the other would say is right and would say it was wrong( back and forth). I have been with this bank for a year but also when I went in to talk to a Branch Manager she got rude with me and suggested to close my account. I don't know if it's what branch I go to but for the last year I have always had problems with Chase.

    I don't know why you're told to do different things (I'm not sure what that means). You have specific problems and questions. Write them down in a list, and talk with a Chase banker about each one. I just don't see how that can lead to all the problems you are having.

    Do they think you are being confrontational and demanding?

    First of all I did not tell two storys I just didn't post the whole problem on here at first and I didn't go into the bank being a hood rat I am very professional and I had these problems with this bank. I went into the branch I got a rude response from the branch manager. I had other brach workers tell me to call the online service and the online service saw the misstake but someone on the other end of the bank in another department stop the payout and said they were not sending the payment. But I was told by three people on the phone it was getting sent and then I had a couple other people tell me that it was not and they didn't see a claim filed or reveresal for the amount so I am having issues wuth the bank I just did not post the whole problem at first.

    I meant I was told two storys I just decided to open a nother acount else where but I don't know what to do about my money because it was a large amount.

    How was the branch manager rude?

    Why are you talking with three (or more) people about this? It didn't get resolved and then you called again... and again, or you kept contacting them with more details and got a different person each time?

    Why were you told to call the online service? Doesn't the branch have computers, so a banker is unable to check?

    When I ask her about the problem it already seemed like she was having a bad day but she was like if I am not satisfied with their service I can close my account. The reason why I had gotten three different people was because when one was done and I would ask a question on it they would say well I don't know let me transfer you to another department and they can answer your question and when they transfer me the other department would ask me what the issue was I would explain to the my question and then they would ask what's the question regarding and I would tell them and then they would say well let me transfer you to another department that might can better assist you. The bank office when I went in they looked into their computer and said that it looks accurate to them and they said if the online department feels like it was done in error they would have to deal with it.

    First, Chase IS a US Federally charted bank so the OCC may be able to help.

    Let me see if I understand what happened. You made a withdrawal (online?) and that amount was debited from your account twice. When you brought this to the bank's attention they first admitted the error and said they would credit you, but then changed their story? Is that what happened?

    The only grounds for a suit that you might have is if this extra debit caused you to incur fees that you would not have and these were not refunded.

    What you really need to to do is go up the line. You need to find a manager who can be a single point of contact and resolve your problem. Don't let them transfer you around. Tell the person to get the answer for you.

    Yes your right about what happened and I am going to try that I already wrote a letter to their head office so I'm going to see what the out come of it will be. But thanks for the advice.

    No it was inside the bank that made the debit I went inside a branch and opened a savings account and the amount for the acount was suppose to be just debit once and put into savings and it shows that transaction plus another debit of the same amount but when they looked into my savings it was only the credit of the one transaction but not the other one.

    At times clerks don't always fully understand us verbally over the phone, since you used a in bank facility, why not to in person and ask to see a manager and have all of you documents and proof in hand
