    Retro-pay from Agent orange
Father is in nursing for the last five years being paid by SSDI & Medicare. He is expection a retro-payment from the VA for service connected disabilites due to exposure to Agent Orange. Can the nursing home require payment over the amount paid by SS & Medicare from the retro=pay since it will include those years he has been in the nursing home?

Generally nursing homes can count any asset, but it will help to know what kind of nursing home it is - public, private, VA?
There are certain rules about monthly allotments of walking around money, but that's only a few dollars.
Also, what do you mean by 'since it will include those years?'

Pretty sad isn't it, when it takes 40+ years to be compensated for deadly chemicals, only to have it taken away by a nursing home. I'm sorry he didn't get to spend it on something half way enjoyable before.
