do I need to install anything under a cast iron shower base
I have purchased a 35 1/2 x 35 1/2 shower base made of cast iron. Got it with no legs. I'm wondering if I can just set it on 1x6's and not build it into a frame? It does not have any give anywhere! Very strong and doesn't need support. My floor is level and I'm not sure how to install this. Company says any pro will know. I live in a small town and not one of the contractors have ever did one, and doesn't have a clue.

Thanks for your input. I did call the co. and was told it can be installed in many different ways. It doesn't need support undernith. It is over 120lbs and about 5" thick cast iron. We are going to build frame and set down into. Then use cement board to inclose and tile. This pan is amazing!! Life time warrenity, will never crack!! I'm using the exposed shower kit with round shower ring. I have a claw foot tub in upstairs b/room, put in when house was built in 1890. The tub looks like new still. I wanted the cast iron since it will out last us ALL. Try to find another shower pan that will out last the human race!! Can't Thanks for your thoughts.
