Need book titles or name of author
I have read two books by a femal author, who I believe to be based in England. The first book is based on the story of a woman not very atheletic but falls in love with this guy online (obviously a hunk) and totally reinvents herself; starts going to the gym and working out so that when she goes to LA to meet him she would look somewhat like the picture she mislead him with.

The second book not too clear on the entire storyline but I think it goes like four of five friends from college days and one of them decides to write a book or movie about everyone's lives... can't exactly remember if it causes turmoil... but obviously there are some hidden secrets amongst them.

Both sound like every romance novel ever written.

Are you thinking of Barbara Cartland?

No not Barbara Cartland... but thinking about the story a little more... I think she post a picture she cuts out of a magazine and then when she gets to LA she gets dumped so she has to look for a job and I think she starts working at a gym and that is how she starts exercising.

Okay, now it sounds like 50% of the romance novels ever written.

Jemima J: A Novel About Ugly Ducklings and Swans by Jane Green

Jemima Jones is overweight. About one hundred pounds overweight. Treated like a maid by her thin and social-climbing roommates, and lorded over by the beautiful Geraldine (less talented but better paid) at the Kilburn Herald, Jemima finds that her only consolation is food. Add to this her passion for her charming, sexy, and unobtainable colleague Ben, and Jemima knows her life is in need of serious change. When she meets Brad, an eligible California hunk, over the Internet, she has the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself–as JJ, the slim, beautiful, gym-obsessed glamour girl. But when her long-distance Romeo demands that they meet, she must conquer her food addiction to become the bone-thin model of her e-mails–-no small feat.

With a fast-paced plot that never quits and a surprise ending no reader will see coming, Jemima J is the chronicle of one woman's quest to become the woman she's always wanted to be, learning along the way a host of lessons about attraction, addiction, the meaning of true love, and, ultimately, who she really is.

If this is by the same author, I can't figure out which book it is. Here is her web site (most of the books sound like good reads!):
