I am looking for a children's book that I read in the 80s. It is about a group of kids on the cross country team who run into fog and find themselves time travelled to ancient Rome. They encounter Spartacus and become unwilling gladiators. They are scheduled to fight one another to the death and must find their way back before then. In the end, they encounter another fog in Rome and this transports them back home. Anyone know of it?? I would be eternally grateful!

I don't know the name of the book but try calling a few local school librarians. If they don't know the book they will help point you in the right direction.
