    Tattoo: Working Out
I have a few tattoos that itch when I'm working out. The two on my arms (which go from the shoulders to the elbows) are about a year or so old, and the newest one is on my right ribcage which is about two months old. The ones on the arms don't itch as badly as the one on my side. I was wondering if this is normal. I've tried searching some information but it seems that most of what is online is talking about new tattoos.

I've always taken good care of the tattoos and I haven't had any allergic reactions. They only itch when working out.

    Thanks.

Is perspiration causing them to itch, much the same as a skin irritation and perspiration?

I read somewhere that vasoline keeps sweat from irritating tattoos.

I'm not sure if it is the sweat that is causing it or what. I could understand some stinging or something if the tattoos were new. I'll have to look into the Vaseline thing.

Tattoos are basically pretty scars, and often scars can get dry and itch even if they have been there for years.

I haven't had my tattoos itch since they were done, but I do have several scars that get crazy itchy in summer.

Make sure you apply a moisturizer to the tattoo a few times a week just to keep the skin healthy.

Thanks, I never thought about it that way. I use moisturizing soap when I shower, but I'll try applying some lotion to the tattoos a little bit before I work out and see how that works. Moisturizer seems a little more comfortable than Vaseline.
