    My Deseased Mother's Lost Account
Before my mother died she told me about an investment she made with a telepone company in Minnesota which has since been sold off to some other company. I thought they were supposed to contact those people to let them know about it. My mother was never informed and now no trace can be found of her shares she had. Is there anything I can do?

What time frame? When did she get her last dividend check? Is this stock listed as unclaimed in the State where she resided?

Some time around 1997 or 1998. She hadn't received a divident check at the time she told me about it. She said they were supposed to start sending them to her, because they didn't start sending them out until after 15 years. Which she said was any day. But she never mentioned it again. How do I go about checking with the state of Minnesota? Thanks

I am guessing she lived in Minnesota - or at least I HOPE she did. Here is the site: Minnesota Commerce : Unclaimed Property

Try there. Even if she didn't live there, perhaps they didn't have a "good" address.

What was her State of residence?

It was Minnesota. She was living in Minneapolis up till she died in 2000. Thanks

I don't know when your mother died but occasionally it takes time to get on the "abandoned/lost" list. Just because she's not listed today doesn't mean she won't be listed tomorrow.

Is there a website to go to or do I need to call them directly. Mom died on Jan 27th of 2000. She should have been on the list a long time ago I would think. Thanks again.

Try the blue highlighted "address" I posted above.

Yes, after 11 years she SHOULD be listed.
