Statute of limitations in Manitoba,Canada
Hello,
I live in Manitoba ,Canada.
In 2001, I took out a loan through Wells Fargo.I was informed that they would hold two of my vehicles as collateral on the loan.
I signed for the loan but then noticed that they had also included my house as collateral.
(should have read it a little closer before signing)
I asked why this was and was told by there loan officer that this was a formality.
I checked with Land Titles in 2002 and yes there was a lien against my house by Wells Fargo.
My financial situation went from bad to worst and I stopped making payments around 2002.
They have since passed this onto several collection agencies.
I have received letters from these agencies over the years, but have not responded to any.
It's now 2011 and I'm still receiving collection letters which offer discount opportunities for repayment.
I now suddenly find myself able to pay off my mortgage in full and own my home.
My questions are.
1:What is the statute of limitations for Manitoba?
2:Can I pay off my mortgage with this still going on?
3:If I pay off my Mortgage ,what happens to the lien imposed by them?
4:Can I be sued.
Thanks for any help you can provide on this issue.
