Are there any cars that do not have computers?
Most cars with carburetors don't have computers. Fuel injection and enhanced pollution control required ECMs.
Not positive but I think TX made a typo, maybe read without carborators. Car have had carbs for 100 years without computers. When fuel injectors and pollution control came in so did computers.
I think tgm meant what he said; ECMs/ECUs started around the time that carburetors stopped.
It's not an exact date. There are many kinds for different functions, and the first ones around '79 - 80 were part analog.

OK
In response to that question, I originally said, "Most cars with carburetors. Fuel injection and enhanced pollution control required ECMs." Apparently, it greatly confused ballengerb1.Quote:

I guess it wasn't you who confused me but the OP actually asked 2 questions in his title and post. When did they start using computers. And then, are there any cars without computers. In any event by now we all know what everyone meant. TX
