How much should a replacement heat pump system cost?
My 15 year old Bryant heat pump will require over $1500 to repair. The HVAC person quoted over $6800 for a new Carrier 15 SEER Comfort Series Heatpump System with Comfort Series Air Handler. Includes:
    3 Ton Heatpump
    3.5 Ton Air Handler
15 KW Heater Package with Breakers as disconnect
    7/8" x 3/8" 30 Ft lineset
    Heatpump Pad with Risers
EZ Flow Condensate Protection System ( Shuts unit off in event drain cloggs , required by code)
Honeywell Basic Digital Thermostat Non Programmable
Ductwork Transitions to new air handler
Breakers in panel box for inside unit and outside unit
    Labor for installation and startup

Is this right? Seems expensive. - THX

The only way to determine if it's a good price is to get 2 other bidders for the same equipment. The only thing I would change in the bid is to get a programmable stat. I think $6800 is well in the ballpark.
