Can a 23 year old date a 17 year old without getting in trouble by the law?
    Moved to its own thread

My brother is 23 dating a 17yr old that just turn 17 might i add. I keep telling him he is sick and needs help and he keeps telling me she is (barely legal) she is ok to date him and just recently said a cop said it was ok. And this isn't the first young girl he has dated. It really bothers me a lot and i don't know what to do he lives in fl and she lives in north carolina. What's the real truth on the barely legal crap?

The truth is each state has a law. Age of consent in N. Carolina is 16. However, this girl is still under the rule of her parents/guradian (unless emancipated) so they can still have a say in what she does.

Others will be along to answer in more detail as I am not entirely sure how it all works!
