    Another Venting Question
I have another question relating to vents. I was reading another venting question where The Standard Plumbing Code Chapter 14, ( Vents and Venting) Section 1403.3 ( Main Vent Stack) states "Every building in which plumbing is installed shall have at least one main vent stack, of not less then 3-inches in diameter, which shall run undiminished in size and as directly as possible from the building main drain through to the open air above the roof."

My main drain is in the rear of the home. I plan on having the vent stack in the rear of the home but the bathrooms and kitchen are located in the front of the home. Therefore my venting process would be from the roof (rear of home) across the attic to front of the house down two floors. Once in the basement cross back to the rear of the house to the main drain. I guess this is not “as directly as possible”. Do you think I’ll have an issue with the inspector? Will I have to install the vent stack in the front roof?

Not to worry, we do it all the time on upscale homes where the owner doesn't want vent pipes in the front of the house. Regards, Tom
