    Laptop battery charging problem
    Hi,

I have an HP 540 for about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs. Lately, the battery just die suddenly. I can use the laptop if I connect it with AC power, but I just run a test, while the power meter show that the battery is charged to 100%, when I unplug the power cord and let it run on the battery power, the laptop shutdown without warning within 5 minutes. All along, I was checking the power meter, and the power meter actually show that the battery is 100% full at the time it shut down itself. It is even more puzzling than that: I tried to test how long the battery takes to charge up, and I see the battery slowly charged from 3 % to 4%, then 5% to 6%, at that point, the battery power meter suddenly report the battery is charged to 100%. Is this problem familiar to anyone? Is this solved if I replace my battery with a new one? My charger and laptop both are in good condition as I have checked it with other battery. *** help.
The battery is a Li-ion battery.
    Thanks.

You can try discharging fully and recharging, however at 1.5 to 2 years you are entering the window that battery failure may be expected. Batteries are like muscle in that using them properly. Leaving a laptop charging on the desktop at all times leads to earlier battery failure.

Thanks. Mr CMEEKS for providing me your useful suggestion but I think that discharging and recharging will not do any good for my laptop battery as I used to do it everyday as I have already mentioned. Is there any other way to get conformed that my battery is expired now, any software or procedure to rejuvinate battery..
    Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no software or physical process that restores a battery.
