Prior to reformatting my computer everything was fine with the screen. Now when I start my computer it takes about 5 times of turning it off and on before the screen picks up on it. It just says no signal until I repeat turning on and off the computer multiple times. I have tried 2 different screens and have plugged my monitor into my graphics card and reg. spot with no luck. I use windows XP and I don't think this problem has to do with any drivers? Any ideas or people with the same problem ?

I think that it might have to do with the power supply. That seems to be the only angle I haven't looked at. I moved my computer to a different area of my house and now it is all connected to one outlet. Before I had my speakers, computer and screen all connecting to multiple different outlets.

Could that be the problem?

It can't be a problem with the hardware or software otherwise it would probably not start at all. Now it just takes multiple attemps at starting the monitor and computer.

When the monitor and computer are finally on, jiggle the monitor cable. If you lose signal, then something is up with the cable. Maybe a bent pin. Check the video card connector for bent pins also.

If there are no issues with your video card OR monitor when things run smoothly, look for a new monitor cable.

You still need a reliable video source from a friend to eliminate the mon... The supply is unlikely.. Video card may have wiggled loose check to see if its seated properly. It may be integrated on the main board. If not try reseating the card that the video plugs into..

I have problem of no signal,my computer work fine,but if say I leave it on,then come back to it i.e. 20 min later it will and click mouse it will say no signal on screen,an I have to turn computer off to go on net etc

At least it not my PC,hopefully it where computer is in house,re my signal thank you

I checked both spots that I can plug the monitor into and both are in nicely. It only seems to not start after leaving it off for a few hours...
If I turn my computer off and leave it for a minute and turn it back on all is fine...

I left for the weekend and tried turing it on and it took 10 attepts.

That doesn't seem to work. I've pulled the plug right out and put it back in a few times and even turned on and off the screen.

Your description sounds like if the monitor is already warmed up, then it works fine, but after its been cold for a while, it doesn't come on immediately.

Do you turn off the monitor using the power button or the switch at the power bar?

Instead of turning off the monitor completely, leave it on. When the computer is off, the monitor will go into standby mode automatically. It uses very little power when in standby mode.

This way, the monitor will always be "warmed up" ready to go.

I think that is the problem! Makes sense, because lately I've been just turning off the screen at night and by the morning it says no signal and requires a resart. I'll try just turning off the comp. at night and leaving the screen on stand by as you said...
