We just replaced the kitchen faucet with a new single lever American Standard faucet, all hooked up and works fine , however, we were not able to get it tightend onto the sink properly. It works fine but you can move the whole plate and faucet around - is there a trick to getting it tightened onto the sink?

Only thing I can think of. It is or isn't assembled properly or the plastic nut your screwing is not on properly. Should screw right up easy by hand.

Plate should have 2 plastic wing nuts and faucet itself should be tightened on the column itself. As mentioned in previous post, plastic wing nuts can be tightened by hand. However, the nut on the column has to be tightened by basin wrench. You probably have to get under the sink again and tighten some more...

Most single lever faucets that I have installed had a plastic wrench with it to tighten nut holding faucet.

U need to tighten the holding nut.

Thanks for the response - it is not a plastic nut - it is a brass nut - I guess we will use as is for now - works fine, just might not hold up, being loose.. .

Thanks for the advise - I have a basin wrench and tightend under the sink with it - but I did not tighten the faucet itself, to the column before installing onto the sink - it was already attached to the column - maybe that can be screwed down further somewhere, Also there was a stip of rubber/plastic under neath the old faucet, placed between the facuet and sink, which I cleaned and re-used with thh new faucet - maybe that is unnecessary and causing the movement there, I will have to take it apart today and re install - thank-you for the ideas

Check installation instructions. Did faucet come with any kind of reinforcing ring? If nut fits on a single stud is there any kind or spacer that goes on the stud between the nut and cross bar? If spacer is lost you may be able to take up some space by placing a large nut between cross bar and nut so that faucet tightens up before nut bottoms out.

If you are using a basin wrench you must have the type of faucet that has a large hollow, brass mounting shank that the supply tups pass through.
A basin wrench has never worked very well for me. Get a set of tub faucet wrenches or sockets. Lossen the supply tubes and slide the socket up to tighten the nut. Note that one socket will fit inside another so that you can make it long enough to reach down below the sink where you can tighten.

Fixed! There are screws to screw into the brass nut, which I didn't know what to do with.. . Screwed them into the nut and it tightened down nicely - thank-you all for your help!
