How do you expect anyone to calculate a cable size without knowing the load in amps, KW, or KVA?

    What difference does this make?

Someone has a 22,000 volt substation feeding switchgear, who cares if it is an office complex, a paper mill, petrochemical plant, a data center, an airport, anything.

Without knowing the load in amperes, kilo-watts, or kilo-voltamps, or even the amp rating of the switchboard, there is no way of sizing a conductor.

So, the short answer to the question posted in the title:

Can I calculate the cable size without kw in 22kv?

    Is, No.

Does not matter what the facility is.

Am I crazy, or does this question absolutely NOT belong here?

Also, am I crazy, or did someone just ask this question on an internet message board?? I'd hate to see the third world country this guy is in.

Crazy? Not sure, the jury may be still out on that decision. Only kidding.

Someone asking about 22 kV feeder at a Home and Garden Electrical and Lighting forum?

What, not often you find 22 kV in homes or gardens?

First, sure my instinct was the poster is from someplace other than a western industrialized country. And then I wonder, yikes, too many things run through my mind, and how is this wiring really being done.

See photo, I want to hire this guy, imagine the money I can save not buying a 40 Cal PPE suit, gloves, face shield and blast hood, hot stick, tic tracer, and, hell, I don't even need a bucket truck let alone have it tested and certified to work near high voltage.

I sure hope he survived. If not, there are many to take his place and do the same work, sadly.

Look, thanks to Google and the marketing this website has managed, somehow, all kinds of people from any and every country are now finding this website, and honestly, when looking for advice do not notice the Home and Garden title, all they see is someplace that looks like they may be able to get an answer to their question.

If there is life on other planets, it will not be long that we get an extra terrestrial asking how to wire his spaceship.

Regarding the type of facility, I was just curious as to whether it was a hospital?

That's all. I mean we were given so much information about the situation. You know like room size for the switch, floor space.

Of course, that really isn't the question.

But I can give him a very accurate answer in one word. I'm not sure why you haven't helped him.

The answer to the size of the cable is "Big". That is the perfect answer and fits the generic tone of his question.

Not to be a party killer, but please note the name in the top left corner of the pic.

It is "joe-ks.com" as in "Jokes"

Tk, you don't even have to buy him shoes. Wonder where the person was that took the picture?
