I read a book a while back. It might have been called castles. Well it tied in 3 stories of woman and love. One of them was a young girl who had to marry a king. Well on their wedding night she didn't want to make love and he said that he would not pressure her and that they can wait till they fall in love. So he cuts his arm to put blood on the sheets. This was in medevil times.
