I have a hampton bay fan and light combo. The fan and light work fine and so did the remote up until a few months ago. The remote will only turn on the fan or light if I hold it less than a foot away from the fan... Which defeats the purpose of the remote. Im not sure what to check to try and solve the issue. I have already changed the battery. Thank you for any help!

First thing I would do is contact the manufacturer and see if they will send you a free replacement. If not, you might look for the little "clear" thing at the front of the remote which sends the signal. If the remote has been dropped it might have been moved into the remote and can't get a signal out. Hope this helped.
