    Nanny Needed, Need Immigration Laws
Hi, I live in the states and am an American.
My former husband lives overseas and has a nanny that he has found for me. What do I need to do in order for her to be able to come?

    Hi Janice,

You could try going through the Au Pair program, but they can only come for one year I think. Welcome to IAPA

Under this website, is information on hiring a foreign nanny classified as "domestic worker". It seems it depends on the country how easy and/or quick the visa process is for the worker. They reference cases that can take years which just defeats the whole purpose. Nanny Search Services Online, Jobs for Nannies, Nanny Help-Wanted Classifieds, Nanny Background Checks, Nanny Screening Service, Nanny Agency, Au Pair Agency: 4nannies

Keep in mind that if the person does come to the US but doesn't have the appropriate visa and/or work authorization, they can't legally get paid, they won't be able to get a drivers license or be added to your insurance, etc.

    Good luck.

    Hello Janice,

I've heard good stories about Search Jobs Abroad. From what I've heard, they provide a lot of information when it comes to nanny-jobs abroad. Not only do they prepare you for your job, but they bring together employers and jobseekers to make the perfect match! Now, I wouldn't say the website is up there with all the other big sites, but it's definitely worth a look, in my opinion. Their page about nanny/aupair jobs is http://www.searchjobsabroad.com/Nanny-jobs.html.
