I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.9 when I got it it will not shift out of frist gear I got a new computer put that in did not change so I put a new kick down cable in it did not work someone said that if the altanater is not chargeing it would not shift took it in to be check its good so please help me

Worn clutch packs? If so, it will need rebuilding or replacing. If the transmission has not been regularly serviced, it likely needs rebuilding. Dropping the pan should tell the story. In the future, this link may help:
