Ask a question about il speed limit?
I am live in a small city in IL. The other day I got a speeding ticket for doing 38mph in a 25mph zone. This is my question on a 5 block radius the speed goes from 25 to 35mph. The cop said he clocked my at 38mph a block and a half away from the new speed sign of 35mph. What is the laws about this, should I go to court or should I just pay the fine. Also, I been driving for more then 12 years and have no moving vilotations.

Please help I am confused and when I read the laws it is all mumble jumbo to me

" a block and a half away from the new speed sign of 35mph" all depends on which direction you were traveling. If you are going toward that new sign then the speed limit is still 25. If you went past the sign and were a blcok beyond it the limit would be 35.

    Hello s:

If the only two speeds you're talking about are 25 and 35 and the NEW sign said 35, it looks like you were going 38 in a 25 MPH zone... But, I can't tell.

Take pictures of the signs and where you were, and go to court. Who knows? The cop might not even show up.
