When you can afford to be a parent.

I deliver babies for a living. You have no idea not only how expensive babies are, but the pain of labor. It's excruciating! And there is no form of birth control that is 100% effective against pregnancy.

I know that. I'm not planning on having sex. My best friend has and more and more people my age ( which is early teens about 14+ ) seem to be doing it. I have a boyfriend who does not want to do anything as neither of us are ready and I'm too afraid il end up pregnant. I just want to know is it the right age that my friends should be doing it at ?

No, it's not the right age. There are too many dangers with pregnancy and health at that age.

At 14 your friends are playing a very dangerous game that they're not physically, emotionally, or financially prepared for.

Pregnancy is only one of the risks, there are so many more.

You're doing the right thing by waiting. You can't stop your friends from doing what they want, but your body is yours. Don't be pressured into something just because everyone else is doing it. Be original. Trust me, one day they'll envy you for having waited until you're ready.

Your friends will learn quickly the dangers of sex.. Don't do it, STDs will be going around and they will get them. At that age you rarely keep a boyfriend/girlfriend long, so the chances of getting them go way up. I've been where you are.. But we gave in to our desires.. I became pregnant and had a miscarriage.. I wound never wish that on anyone in the world, so waiting is a very good idea.. And by him wanting to wait to it shows he respects you :)

There is no "right" age for engaging in sex. But there is a right set of circumstances especially for engaging in sexual intercourse. The first and most important is that you are prepared to have a child. No form of contraception is 100% effective, so sexual intercourse = risk of pregnancy. Second, sex is not a form of recreation. Its something that should be shared between people in a deep committed relationship. Third, there has to be emotional maturity to handle the changes that sexual intimacy makes to a relationship.
