I just found out reasonly that my Niece is placed in a foster Home.. My brother is married but never gotten divorce & so he been away from his wife for many years(10yrs). We found out by a friend that his daughter been placed in a foster home and we don't know how long my Niece been living with a foster.. Since the mother always had a Order of Protection on him. He never got to see his daughter for many years.. Now the last time we seen my niece was when she was 5yrs n fother 8yrsold she is now 15yrs of age.I don't know where to start at or where to call and if I will ever have any contact or for my brother who is the father to see her again..

The daughter was placed in a foster home without the knowledge of the father? Where?

The father needs to contact child protective services (or a similar agency), prove that he is the father and ask for info on the location of the child.

You have no legal standing in this.

Did your brother lose all rights to his daughter? Unless he did he should have been advised and even if there was an order of protection against him, his family could still potentially provide the foster care. He should have been told.

Why are there orders of protection for years on end?
