Hello:

Anyone who breathes can attest to the lie, that cops become cops in order to "help people". Every time I hear that, I gag... Actually, cops become cops because they like to BUST people, and you know it too, don't you??

Finally, thanks to Facebook, the cops are coming out of the closet. They're admitting that they are "human waste disposals". They call themselves names like "the punisher". One state trooper posted a comment about a homeless man, having been beaten by the cops, saying, “These people should have died when they were young, anyway, I'm just doing them a favor,”

Of course, the police department doesn't like the truth to get out, so they're now limiting what cops can say online. Being a fellow who like the TRUTH, I think the cops should NOT be muffled. The public is SERVED by knowing that they've hired a gang of thugs.

There are 800,000 law enforcement officers in the US - 683,396 local/State and 120,000 Federal.

I don't think you ("Actually, cops become cops because they like to BUST people, and you know it too, don't you???") speak for all, or even a majority, of them.

One nickname ("They call themselves names like "the punisher") and one comment ("These people should have died when they were young, anyway, I’m just doing them a favor") is by no means indicative of what the other 799,998 law enforcement officers are thinking or doing.

Next time someone rapes your girlfriend or daughter call another ex-con and don't bother the Police.

The old, "if you get into trouble, call a hippie", schtick ain't going to fly here. I don't indict ALL cops. You indict NONE. The problem we've got here, is I believe the cop who would come to my aid in ONE instance, would beat the sh*t out of me in another. You, on the other hand, view them more like single dimensional cartoon characters, even after reading what they say about themselves. Who's the one wearing blinders here?

Look. I know you have a political inclination to DENY that the cops are bad. But, if you can get a glance just beyond those blinders, you can SEE that they LOVE to bust people. You can SEE that they LOVE to use their fists and batons...

The real problem is that America has conceded too much turf to the lawless goons . Maybe if the cops got the respect they got in our dad's age the whole country would be a better place to live.

I'll go back to the example of the Dodgers Stadium assault . The Dodgers are going to hire the former NYC Police Commish to beef up security because what used to be a very safe and friendly place for families to go for entertainment has become a place to go to risk a beat down or abuse from others attending Dodgers games.
The same is true all over the country . There are swaths of real estate all over the country where you risk your life venturing into them. Kids in most inner cities have to cross rival gang turf just to walk to school.
You tell me who is going to secure the social contract ? Yeah sometimes the sheriff has to be the meanest person in town.

I personally know two people from high school who became cops in Philly. One became a cop because of all the abuse he to in high school and as he said to me is going to make every one of those people pay for it. The other one became a cop because he wanted to help people. So I think it is a even mix of good and evil.

Thank you for the acknowledgement. Seriously, thank you. Now, we can get down to fixing the problem... You can't do that when nobody agrees that there IS a problem...

You and I grew up in the same environment. We've seen it cycle down hill. I understand WHY a cop reacts like he does. It's HARD to be a cop. Ok, so it's HARD. Somebody needs to take the lead and STOP the race to the BOTTOM. I don't expect the gangs to do it, and there's only one group left..

I don't know about WHY cops become cops, but a family friend of ours is a police officer, and he's a good person. He wants to help people, truly.

He left the force in Estes Park-a touristy haven in Summer and half of Fall and a quiet, small mountain town the rest of the year. There he was use to the old stereotype of cops: swinging a baton, whistling as they stroll down the avenue, pinching the cheeks of the children, etc.

He moved to the Fort Collins force. Fort Collins is a much larger city, a college city. On his first day of orientation, the chief plopped three huge law books on the table and said "in these three books, everyone you encounter at any given time is breaking a law and can be arrested". Then, a colleague told him about a local gang that had an initiation practice of killing a cop, and word on the street was my friend was on the gang's roster. Well, it turns out that was just a lie, and a scare tactic.

I guess my view on the subject is that a lot of the problem is the way they TRAIN police officers, not the officers themselves. Though, I have no problem believing a lot of cops get into it just to bust people.

I do NOT say there aren't any bad cops. I did say that quotes by a few should not be used to indict many. Please don't put words in my mouth.

Your comments about Cops, based on a few quotes, possibly your experience(s), are as unfair as indicting all school bus drivers due to the actions of a few.

If you want to post "I think.. " I have no answer for you.

If you want to post "This is how it is... " I disagree with your thinking process.

Personally, I'm pretty darn sure thee good cops far outweigh the bad, and I've come across both. My brother has been a cop for around 40 years and I've heard lots of stories. The only guy he ever spoke ill of was the moron we had for a Sheriff a few years back.

Btw Spit, I've probably said it before but I won't attend an Eagles game, not even in Dallas.

I know speech I won't go to them either just because of the @$$holes and I refuse to be lumped in as a "typical philly fan" sad thing is now since the Phillies are actually doing good these guys are coming to the Phillies games and starting nonsense.

I WAS a Cop - enforcement branch for the Feds. Likewise, I'm not a bad person (if there are only categories - good or bad).

The pay was good; I traveled a lot; I met a lot of people. There were advantages and disadvantages. I didn't sign up in order to slap people around.

You can make this same "this is what a few people said and therefore they're all bad apples" about the US Armed Forces - I don't believe that the comments made by the soldiers involved in killing AND mutilating between 175 and 504 apparently unarmed men, women and children during the My Lai Massacre sum up the thoughts of our Armed Forces. Read the trial transcripts.

I'm not arguing who was or was not responsible, who did or didn't give the orders. I'm referring by the comments by a few which perhaps should be used against many.

And don't wave the flag at me - my "ex" was a decorated Viet Nam vet.
