    Toilet goes berserk randomly
    Hi,

My toilet works fine normally except some days when brown residue will flow into my toilet and reside in the toilet bowl. When I flush it away, the water level goes down, rises, and takes a few seconds to go back to the normal level. Sometimes, some of the residue does not get flushed away and resides back in my toilet. This normally lasts a few days to a week and everything returns to normal. Then, after a few weeks, it happens again. Thing is, its totally random and I do not know when it will come back.

Also, every time I flush, there seems to be like a gargling sound? Is it normal or could that be related?

Can someone please tell me what is going on? I just can't find out what's wrong and the plumbing service I called said I would have to do a camera survey that will cost me a bomb.

    Thank you.

Just a side note, you used the B word at the end of your last sentence, don't do that. The internet is scanned for certain words and phases and you may cause yourself some problems. When you toilet fills with brown liquid is it coming from the tank when flushed or is it backing up from the drain? Keep the lid off the tank to keep and eye on the incoming water if you are not sure

    Sorry!

I'm assuming its coming from the drain because its not from the tank. Any idea what might cause it?

Sounds like a clogged main. Is there a tub or shower in this room

Yeah and its working fine, doesn't seem like there's any problem with it.

I am afraid I can't be of much help after this last post. A clogged main would most likely also backup into the tub so I am lost without actually being on site. There are some other plumbers here who may jump in and add some help

Yeah I guess I should get someone to check it before it gets worse. But anyway thank you for your help!

I assume you have tried plunging the toilet. If that did nothing the next step is a toilet auger which reaches 3', afyter that its pull the toilet up and rod the drain line with a 2" snake.
