    It really doesn't make any difference unless you want to put your drain pan line to run into it then I'd put it close. Why the question?

    I agree with ma, close would be nice as would a floor drain. Unless this is new construction put the heater where the last one was to keep the piping easy.

    Agree with answers above. Technically, both Sewer Ejector and Water Heater are closed, sealed, and independently vented systems so there is no danger of crossover of any kind. Perhaps, I would just place the water heater the way so you have easy access to Sewer Ejector when in need of service.
